U.S. 2016 Elections: Free Media Coverage: Clinton Closes the Gap with Trump
It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and fall is just around the corner. With Labor Day now in the rear view mirror the sprint by Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump towards the November 8, 2016 U.S. Presidential election begins in earnest.
In March of this year the New York Times reported that GOP candidate Donald Trump received 2 billion dollars in free media coverage while Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton received almost ¾ of a billion dollars in free media coverage*
From August 2015 to August 2016 Trump had earned close to 4.3 billion dollars in earned media, an amount which almost doubled Clinton’s total of 2.3 billion
But 2 months ago (July 2016) Clinton pulled even with Trump getting 541.1 million compared to Trump’s 567.3 million. Most of Clinton’s free media bump came after the Democrat National Convention.
